Publishing Process in Steps

After we receive your manuscript the process begins immediately.

All writers, even best-selling authors and best-selling books have typos. It’s inevitable in a 50,000 – 80,000 word manuscript. During the editing process we will identify and correct glaring errors or mistakes in your manuscript that would otherwise prevent your book from being ready to publish or impede the quality of your book.  Bear in mind, we are the last set of eyes that should see your book before it goes print and is made available for sale, so there is an expectation that authors have made steps to review their manuscripts before submitting a manuscript.  Put your best foot forward! We want your final draft, not a rough draft.  Otherwise, we will make edits and other necessary corrections for print. We do not rewrite or ghostwrite your manuscript. If there are issues with your narration or story , outside of our purview, we will let you know, so don’t worry, we will not attempt to force creative changes on your story or vision. We will guide you and make recommendations as needed for any change that goes beyond correcting typos and editing issues. We want your words to belong to you. It’s important to us that your book remains in the author’s voice. Here is a general outline of what to expect during the process:

1. Your book is formatted and reviewed for glaring typos and obvious grammatical errors (you will also have the opportunity to review the formatted book before it is submitted for print )

2. After your book is formatted, it will be emailed to you for your review and approval. After you review, we finalize before it goes to print.
3. We design your book cover
4. We create your eBook (and a hardcover edition if requested)
5. Obtain your ISBN and Library of Congress numbers (You may opt to choose a free ISBN issued by the printer.)
6. We set up your account and author dashboard for publishing and distribution (We use one of the biggest distributors in the world).
7. We submit your book for print.
8. You will review the digital eProof/layout of your book prior to approving it for sale, or you may order a proof copy through your dashboard of the physical book to review it at home first, before placing it on sale.
9. We will approve the proof copy together and make your book available for sale as an eBook and paperback. When customers buy your book from the retailer, it is printed, shipped to the customer, and the royalty is sent directly to you. You can watch your royalties in real time as sales are reported by retailers. You also have the option of a 60 day or 90 day preorder period, which is great for marketing, depending on the situation.
10. We discuss and put together marketing materials.
11. Turnaround is roughly two and a half months to three months when your book will be ready for print unless the author has changes to make that will delay the publishing process.
